Close call with a massive iguana

Last month, I joined a rainforest expedition deep into the territory of the Wayana tribe in Suriname, French Guiana and Brazil. This video shows 5 minutes of iguana hunting with the boatmen. The action starts at 0:48. As we navigate the jungle creek, one of the men spots an iguana perched high in a tree above us. With precision, the driver steers the boat directly beneath the iguana’s location. The hunter raises his weapon, takes aim, and fires his shot. Hit. Within seconds, a massive iguana plunges from the tree, landing just centimeters behind me, directly into the boat. The lizard jumps screaming into my section, and while holding the camera, I somehow manage to capture it with my foot. Stories of a lifetime…
